The End
George Costakis died of a heart failure in Athens on March 9, 1990. Not long before that, he flew to Sweden, where he underwent a medical examination - there was a hope that with the help of the operation he would be able to walk. However, due to a weak heart, the operation was canceled. George Dionisovich Costakis was buried on March 13 at the First Athens Cemetery (the most famous in the Greek capital). All his four children, several grandchildren, ambassadors of the Soviet Union and Canada, about fifty friends (mainly Greeks) accompanied him on his last journey.
